Basically, what I want to be able to do is rename Newpoints.php and still have the same functionality..

Ex:
http://example.com/newpoints.php?action=do_donate

to

Ex:
http://example.com/points.php?action=do_donate
You will need to:
  • Rename the file.
  • Find any instance of "newpoints.php" in your templates and change it to "SOMETHING.php".
  • Find the same ("newpoints.php") and update it in any newpoints file.

It may be a pain, really.
I was actually considering doing that, there's got to be an easier way.

Maybe mod_rewrite? Which I no nothing of.
Probably, but Pirata Nervo mentioned something about POST request being lost because of mod_rewrite redirections.

I know nothing about the matter though.
