Help with a couple of items
#1

Hello again,

I was curious if some experts out there might could point me in the right direction of how to complete a few things I need to make my site work the way I'd like.

First, I would like to have a custom homepage. I really don't like the portal page, so I've created my own portal page with a slider. However; I can't figure out how to make this the first page that a user lands on when they visit my site.

Second, I can't for the life of me, figure out how to change/edit the navigation menu. The first link is "Portal" and I want that to become "Home" and I'd also like to add the "My Download" plugin I'm using from this wonderful site.

Hope someone can help!

Oh, here is screenshots of my work so far. I've taken a free template that uses bootstrap and customized it how I'd like. The portal page you see is totally custom work using the built in bootstrap grid system.

Hi,

To edit the menu you need to alter (likely) the header_welcome_block template. But it depends on your theme so you should request support from the author as he'll give you better support there than me. To change the page to which users land, you can to create a htaccess rule for example.

Thanks for your reply.

I read on a post in mybb forums , that you could change the portal.php to index.php and change index.php to forum.php. Have you heard of this method before? It seems rather complicated, but I believe the user was wanting the page to point to the portal page so the browser would show http://somedomainname.tld instead of http://somedomainname.tld/portal.php

You could possibly do that but you'd probably need to change other things as well.
